Friday I was able to get out to do a little fishing. Weather wasn't ideal but, but then again if we waited for a perfect day of weather here on the coast we wouldn't get much fishing done.
I decided to go check out a new marsh system in the Brazoria area, launching at about 730 to dense clouds and cool weather. I was even lucky enough to have some light rain and mist on my way to the fishing hole.
I got to the marsh and realized pretty quickly just how low the water was. Low tide was suppose to be around 530, but water was still being sucked out. Fishing channels in the marsh, I was able to land a keeper flounder relatively quickly. I fished another few hours with not much action. Throwing a buggs, soft plastic and gulp on the bottom. Along reefs, along the banks, across channels, nada. I began making my way back to the front and decided to try a channel again, with lots of oysters. I ended up catching about a dozen rat reds bouncing a gulp swimming mullet along the bottom. After having tired of the small guys, I moved on.
On my way back to the truck I decided to fish the shoreline of the ICW. I caught a 19" red right outside the marsh. Decided to keep on fishing as I pedaled, this got me another red, 23". That was it for the day.
I was very leary about taking my Revo back into this marsh, oysters were everywhere and with the tide so low, I didnt want to trash the hull. All in all, I really didnt have any issues with that, it is inevitable though, I hit a few reefs but very slowly, just the nature of the game. Definitely going to be back to this marsh. Spring break is next week, being a teacher I fully intend on taking advantage of that and getting out a few times. Tight lines
