Summer is now 1/2 way over and it feels like I've hardly fished. I decided to hit the water this morning with my pops and explored some new water. I also had just bought a new lews tournament laser spool, so I was dying to go get that slimed too. I will be off of work for several weeks in two weeks and plan to hit this area hard.
We put in at about 6:30 to an incoming tide. The wind was maybe 5, and it stayed below 10 the whole time we were out. Tide was still coming in when we took out at 12:30.
We started off fishing some shallow reefs. Within the first 10 minutes I landed a 16" flounder. good start to the day. Moved over to some grass shoreline but that did not produce anything.

We moved onto a grass flat that was adjacent to a deep channel, it was getting a low of flow and there was some swirls. Long story short My pops ended up catching two reds just under slot on a gold spoon. I got a few bumps on my buggs but no takers.
By about 11 we were paddling along grass shorelines looking for some action but not much was going on. Probably should have stayed and fished the reefs longer. We eneded up going back to the channel and netting some finger skipjack and mullet. Right away I hooked up to a 23" trout. Shortly after my dad hooks up to a similar sized trout, but I was slow with the net. It darted between his legs and he was gone. Fished this channel a bit longer but only snagged some hardheads. Trout didn't touch the mullet. On out paddle back my dad caught a couple dink trout on a ttf kfm. I came back to the reef on the way to the truck and saw some sheephead and reds tailing. The reds were too busy with their noses in the mud and didn't want my chickenboy. All in all a great day, fish were caught and the weather was fantastic. Will definitley be coming back to this area. I got a good feel for it this trip and know where to look next time. Tight lines
